About This Yacht
True head-turner, Summer Wind is a classic Tom Colvin Gazelle schooner with a unique junk rig, built tough with 1/4" steel for serious cruising. Designed for adventure, she’s been a trusted tour boat for 16 years, logging over 75,000 miles and carrying 25,000+ passengers. A regular in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, she’s proven her seaworthiness time and again.
Her spacious deck and cozy interior make her ideal for long voyages or life aboard. Equipped with a Yanmar diesel, she offers a fuel range of 260-350 nautical miles, with a design that favors efficient sailing over engine reliance. Her versatile junk rig is easy to handle, reducing the need for constant sail adjustments and making her a joy to sail short-handed.
Originally chosen for her character and charm, Summer Wind draws attention wherever she goes. Her classic lines, rugged steel hull, and distinctive rig make her stand out in any marina. The boat’s history, durability, and well-maintained systems ensure she’s ready for new adventures, whether cruising coastal waters, exploring distant shores, or continuing as a working vessel.
For those looking for a schooner with history, charm, and adventure-ready capabilities, Summer Wind is an opportunity not to be missed.
